The role of the PTA

The main role of the PTA is to build strong working relationships among parents, teachers and schools in support of students.

  • This can include recruiting and coordinating volunteers from parent communities
  • Organizing activities that would involve parents, students and neighborhood.
  • PTA will work with the school to decide jointly which programs will most benefit the school.
  • PTA meetings serve as venues for discussions about a variety of educational issues, building better relationships with communities or share important information about school reform initiatives.
  • The PTA should be a neutral forum for resolving conflicts that sometimes occur in schools.
